On May 30, the Guardian reported that a senior Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives asked Donald Trump to make public the list of attendees for a private dinner hosted last week for his meme coin TRUMP as doubts about the deep and secret ties between the Trump administration and the cryptocurrency industry heated. As the Trump administration gave the industry the green light at a star-studded crypto conference in Las Vegas this week, Rep. Jamie Raskin from Maryland and top Democrat of the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday called for an investigation into last week's private dinner at Trump's golf club in Virginia, which was held exclusively for major buyers of his TRUMP digital token. "Releasing this list will give the American people an idea of who is putting tens of millions of dollars into our president's pocket, so we can begin to figure out what they're getting out of these huge sums of money other than the almost worthless meme coins," he wrote in a letter. Raskin's call for an investigation comes as Vice President J.D. Vance and other senior Trump administration officials appeared in Las Vegas on Wednesday and Thursday for Bitcoin 2025 to promote the U.S. government's crypto-friendly policies to industry leaders and investors.
